HOW TO ACCESS THE

Remote Access Portal image

Via a Windows Computer

Note: Accessing the USAR RAP will keep your ARNet account active between Battle Assemblies (BA).  You do need to [already] have an ARNet account before attempting to access.  If you don't have an ARNet account, Army Reserve Soldiers can request one via:  https://aramp.usar.army.mil (You need to know both your AKO username and password).

Accessing the USAR RAP requires the following pre-access steps listed below and an active Army Reserve Network (ARNet) account before continuing.  If you can already access your mail.mil email from your computer, then continue to Installation Steps below.

 

Pre usage Steps
PreAccess 1:   Have a CAC Reader
PreAccess 2:   DoD Certificates
PreAccess 3   (Windows 7 and below):  Use built in, or install ActivClient 6.2.0.50
PreAccess 3a (Windows 7 and below):  Update ActivClient 6.2.0.x
PreAccess 3   (Windows 8 / 8.1):  Use built in, or install ActivClient 7.0.2.25
PreAccess 3b (Windows 8 / 8.1):  Update ActivClient 7.0.2.x
PreAccess 3c (Windows 8 / 8.1) : You can also use Smart Card Manager
PreAccess 4   (Windows 10 computers): Use built in, or install Smart Card Manager
PreAccess 5:   Internet Explorer Adjustments (including adding 'army.mil'
                        to compatibility view settings)
 

Once all PreAccess steps above are complete you'll need to install the Citrix file to access the USAR RAP site:

Once you've gone through the install process, go here.

 

Installation Steps:

 

Install the Citrix software and click the I agree box.

NOTE:  Save this file to your desktop, DON'T "run" it.  This way if it errors out you can rerun it again. 

 

 Click Install

Welcome to Citrix Receiver Setup

 

 It is now installing

Citrix Installing

 

Click Allow

All install?

 

Click Finish

Citrix is Installed

 

Click Continue

Citrix Confirmation

 

Click the Do not show me the warning... box and Allow

IE Security

Once this is installed, close your web browser, and then revisit: 

https://rasxtra.usar.army.mil

 

Usage Steps:

 

You'll see this for a few moments

One Moment please

 

You will be prompted to select a CAC certificate, you MUST select the certificate with the word EMAIL in it (this includes dual persona users)

Select Email certificate

 

Depending on your version of Windows, your screen may look like this, remember, you MUST select the certificate with the word EMAIL in it (this includes dual persona users)

You'll see this screen

Enter your 6-8 digit CAC PIN

Enter PIN

 

Depending on your version of Windows, your screen may look like this:

Select AR Desktop

Wait for your Smart Card to read, then select your name

You'll be prompted to select your CAC certificate (just like when you log in at the Reserve Center)

The virtual server desktop will load eventually........., and you will have access to your organizations SharePoint and any other network shared drives or intranet websites, just like when at your Reserve unit.

 

More information:

You can use Outlook on this virtual desktop.  Please wait about 5 minutes after you log into the server before clicking it, or it will fail.

 

Do not save any files on this desktop, as they will get deleted.  Save files to your network drives.
