STEP 4:  ARMY ACTIVCLIENT 6.1 INSTALL PAGE (other agencies, look here)

NOTE:  IF you are here because your ActivClient 6.2 does not work, please make sure you UNINSTALL 6.2 AND restart your computer before following these instructions. 

Don't forget the ActivClient 6.1 Update file

Windows XP, Vista & 7 (32 bit) users can download ActivClient 6.1 from:

Click on zip file titled:  ActivClient 6_1 for CAC (30691.11 KB zip file) save to your desktop, then follow instructions below.

Windows XP, Vista & 7 (64 bit) users can download ActivClient 6.1 from:

Click on zip file titled:  ActivClient 6_1 for CAC x64 BN39 (31631.13 K  zip file) save to your desktop, then follow instructions below.

If you are unsure which version of Windows you have, here is how to find out:

Vista & 7: Right click Computer, Properties.  Look under the System section, System type: it will show either 32 or      64-bit Operating System. 

XP: Right click My Computer, Properties.  If it doesn't show 64-bit, you have a 32-bit Operating System. 

ACTIVCLIENT 6.1 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS (for all versions of Windows):

Once downloaded, Right click the .zip file you just downloaded, Select Extract All, Next, It will now prompt you where to extract it.  The default choice will be the same folder you downloaded it at.  Select Next, (it will now extract your files into a new folder).  From inside the newly opened folder, Double click Start, Run, Install, Install / Upgrade Now, [It may "hang" for up to a few moments at this point],  Continue, Next, Select "I accept the terms...", Next, choose Typical, Next (on setup type), Install, (It might prompt you to close some of your open programs).  Uncheck the Show the readme file box (unless you want to read it). Hit Finish.  Restart your computer.

NOTE:  If you are having problems with the 64bit version of ActivClient where it seems to not do anything when you click Install...  Navigate to the Product folder and attempt the install using the ActivClient CAC 6.1 x64.msi file

YOU ARE FINISHED (IF YOU ONLY WANT TO BE ABLE TO LOGON TO AKO (or other DoD CAC enabled websites WITH YOUR CAC)).
